PSU's Graduate School of Education received $700,000, the largest private gift in its history, from the estate of philanthropist and longtime Portland resident Janette Drew. The estate gift brings Drew's total endowment to over $1 milliontripling the annual scholarship dollars available for students in PSU's Graduate Teacher Education Program and allowing larger awards for students during a time of rapidly increasing tuition.

"This wonderful gift will expand the number of Drew Scholars we can assist each year, and their contributions in schools across the region will be a living tribute to this gracious and thoughtful woman," said Phyllis Edmundson, dean of the Graduate School of Education. The school is Oregon's largest and most comprehensive.
