The School of Business Administration (SBA) at Portland State University is expanding its postgraduate job placement capabilities with the addition of Vinitia Mathews as its new director of Graduate Placement and Career Services.
Mathews will work closely with Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Financial Analysis (MFSA) and Master of International Management (MIM) students to find rewarding employment opportunities following graduation.
"Our students will reap the increased benefits of an enhanced career services center dedicated solely to graduate students," said Carolyn McKnight, SBA's new director of MBA programs. "Vinitia brings experience in all the areas that we need to help our graduates find gainful employment: business school training and teaching positions, business and career planning, cross-cultural communications, recruitment and retention, and coaching."
Mathews' responsibilities include not only helping students find employment opportunities after graduation, but maintaining outreach with potential employers, providing career counseling through the graduate school experience, assisting with internship placements, managing a mentor-student program, and working with other business and community partners to increase interfaces between students and work.
Mathews most recently was president and strategic analyst of Belum Advisors Inc. She has degrees from University of Nebraska at Kearney and Texas Tech University.
