PSU received a boost in its fundraising campaign for the Northwest Center for Engineering Science and Technology last month when the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced a $500,000 grant to the project.
The University will use the grant toward the construction of a new home for the College of Engineering and Computer Science--a 130,000-square-foot facility with 47 new classrooms and laboratories, a center for student services and expanded facilities for Oregon MESA (Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement).
"The generosity of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will make it possible for the College of Engineering and Computer Science to meet the demands of the region and provide access to a high-quality engineering education," said PSU President Daniel Bernstine. The University hopes to open the facility in 2005.
