Portland State University has named Jennifer Williamson as its Government Relations associate. Williamson will report directly to Deborah Murdock, assistant to the PSU president for Strategic Planning, Public Policy and Government Relations.
Williamson will be responsible for planning, preparing and implementing the University's public policy agenda at the local, state and federal levels. She will help develop and support the government relations agenda by working with coalitions including various student groups, the PSU Alumni Association, and the Oregon University System, conducting research and analyzing data, and by participating in special event planning and execution.
Prior to joining PSU, Jennifer Williamson was an attorney with Davis Wright Tremaine LLP in Portland, Ore., where she was responsible for advising clients in connection with regulation and licensing by state and federal agencies and also represented clients in diverse and complex general litigation matters ranging from intellectual property matters to gas utility litigation to employee disputes. Williamson has also worked as a public affairs specialist with Intel Corporation and as a legislative research assistant at the office of U.S. Senator Mark O. Hatfield in Washington, D.C.
Williamson is affiliated with the advisory board of the Rock n' Roll Camp For Girls and the Western Prison Project. She received her J.D., cum laude from the Willamette University College of Law and holds a bachelor's degree in political science from University of Oregon. She has also completed a summer program in Chinese law at the East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai, China.
