On March 18, President Dan Bernstine and Dr. Fariborz Maseeh, PSU alumnus and founder of The Massiah Foundation, announced an $8 million donation from the foundation to the College of Engineering and Computer Sciencethe largest private gift in the University's history.

The gift will be used for the construction of the Northwest Center for Engineering, Science and Technology, as well as to establish two professorships, five student fellowships, and an endowment for the dean of the college, which will be renamed the Fariborz Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science.
"I have a vision of tomorrow's freshman engineering student...walking into our new engineering and computer science building and instantly being filled with a sense of limitless possibilities and passion about the contributions he or she will make to change the world," said Maseeh.
Maseeh, a first-generation immigrant from Iran, received his bachelor's in Structural Engineering and master's in Mathematics from Portland State. An internationally known expert in the field of micro-technology, Maseeh is the founder and former president and CEO of IntelliSense Corporation which was acquired by Corning, Inc., in 2000. Today Maseeh runs an investment management firm based in Southern California.
