Robert Schroeder, PSU Library's newly Elected AAUP Treasurer for Portland State University!

 Assistant Professor Robert Schroeder (Bob), Instruction and Reference Librarian at the PSU Library, is the new treasurer for the Portland State union chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP)! His responsibilities include developing the yearly budget for approval by the Executive Council, advising the office staff on day-to-day bookkeeping matters and arranging the yearly audit. In Bob's acceptance address to the AAUP union, he stated,

This is a challenging time for unions and union members. Membership nationally is decreasing at a time when working people's wages, in real dollars, have been declining since the mid-sixties. Unions are doubly important in academe in that they support academic freedom and the ability to explore new, interesting and often controversial research and ideas.
