Farrington's mission is based on the philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.-to build a community, where all people, regardless of race, gender or class, have a voice and feel safe expressing that voice. She has a lifelong commitment to women's empowerment and personal and spiritual transformation.

The workshop is organized by the Women Transforming Program (WTP) in the Department of Women's Studies at PSU. The goal of the WTP is to facilitate self-exploration around issues important to the lives of women, to community and to social justice, based on the belief that women's spirituality and creativity is a potential source of personal and collective change.
