What:
Oregon's State Economist Tom Potiowsky, currently on leave from Portland State, returns to the Portland City Club this Friday for his annual economic forecast for the year to come. In delivering this year's address, "The Economy: Oregon and Beyond, One Small State in a Big Flat World," Potiowsky is joined by Mary King, professor and chair of Portland State's Department of Economics, and by Kimberly Clausing, associate professor and chair of the Economics department at Reed College.
Portland State University labor economist Mary King will discuss what's happening with wages, jobs and possible options for policymakers, with a particular focus on the situation of women, people of color and low-wage earners. Kimberly Clausing will offer her take on the effects of national and international tax policy on corporate decisions about where to conduct business-and where to stash their money-as well as the resulting impact on American jobs and tax revenues.
