Portland State University was honored at this year's Businesses for an Environmentally Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Awards Breakfast, April 20, 2005. The awards are given annually by the City of Portland's Office of Sustainable Development to businesses demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to sustainability.

PSU's Office of Transportation and Parking won the “BEST Award for Transportation Alternatives” for creating innovative transportation alternatives for the University's 24,000 students, 3,000+ faculty and staff members, and one million annual visitors.

PSU also received the “BEST Award for Stormwater Management” for innovations in two building projects: Stephen E. Epler Hall and The Broadway.

“This year’s BEST Award winners represent the true diversity of Portland’s business community and its commitment to sustainability,” said Portland Mayor Tom Potter. “These companies are transforming both the marketplace and the culture of doing business in the city and region.”
