What: Juan Williams, senior correspondent for National Public Radio, will speak at a community-wide event celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Williams will offer insights into the lessons learned from Dr. King. A book signing will follow the talk; books can be purchased at the event. Williams’ visit is sponsored by Portland State University and Oregon Public Broadcasting.
When: Wednesday, January 12, 2005, lecture at 7 p.m.; book signing to follow.
Where: PSU’s Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom, room 355 (1825 SW Broadway)
Cost: Please Tickets are $20 for the general public and $5 for students who present a valid student ID at the time of sale, and can be purchased at Ticketmaster outlets or at the PSU Ticket Office (1825 SW Broadway, room 102). Seating is limited.

Background: Juan Williams is one of America’s leading political writers and thinkers. In addition to his post with NPR, he is the political analyst for Fox Television, a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and former editorial writer for The Washington Post and the author of three books, including the critically acclaimed biography Thurgood Marshall: American Revolutionary and the nonfiction bestseller Eyes on the Prize: America's Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965, the companion volume to the critically acclaimed 2003 television series This Far by Faith: Stories from the African American Religious Experience.
