With the unveiling of new campus banners, Portland State University introduced its new identity with a new logo, a new "PSU Green," and a clearer definition of what the University means to students, faculty, and staff.
Work on the new identity, which includes fonts, messages about the University, a graphic standards guide, Web pages, and a retooled Portland State Magazine (previously PSU Magazine), began in early 2005 with the President's Task Force on Integrated Marketing. The process included polling and interviews with hundreds of faculty and staff and thousands of students as well as work with Larry Lauer and Associates (a higher education marketing consultant), and Portland-based Sockeye Creative.
President Bernstine announced the identity launch at his Fall Convocation address, Tuesday, September 19, 2006, which was followed by a campus-wide mailing to faculty and staff that included a primer on elements of the new Portland State identity, a window decal, and lapel pin.
The rollout continues with templates and designs for newsletters, flyers, and brochures, new print advertising guidelines, a more robust Web-based content management system, and much more.
