New Exhibit in the Library -- Hudson River 1826
French engraver, Jacques Gerard Milbert, cataloged his journey through drawings from Virginia to Maine in 1826. His primary focus for his art was the Hudson River from New York city to Niagra Falls. On display in the new books area of the PSU Library are 8 reprints of Milbert's engravings charting his travels along the Hudson River.
The original title of Milbert's collection of engravings is Itineraire Pittoresque du Fleuve Hudson et Des Parties Laterales published by Chez Henry Gaugain & Cie in Paris. The engravings were reprinted as Picturesque Itinerary of the Hudson River and published by the Gregg Press, Ridgewood, New Jersey in 1968.
PSU Library holds the 1968 reprints in Special Collections.
