Research by Andrew Fountain, one of three PSU professors featured in the December 2004 issues of Insights for work on glaciers in Antarctica, has made the cover of Nature, an international weekly journal of science long known as the most reliable source of up-to-date scientific information.
The February 10 edition featured the cover story, “Fractures as the main pathways of water flow in temperate glaciers,” written by Fountain, a professor of geology and geography, and his colleagues from St. Olaf (MN) College and Stockholm University in Sweden, with contributions from Robert Schlichting, a teacher at Portland’s Cleveland High School.
Oregon Public Broadcasting’s program Oregon Field Guide will air a segment devoted to Fountain and his colleagues’ work at Mt. Hood’s Eliot Glacier on Thursday, March 3 at 8:30 p.m. (check local listings).
