Intel Northwest Science Expo at PSU, Mar. 17

What:
Hundreds of science projects by nearly 700 Oregon and southwest Washington students in grades 5-12 will be on display at Portland State University for the 23rd–annual Intel Northwest Science Expo, presented by Portland State and Vernier Software and Technology. This year, IBM researcher Thomas G. Zimmerman will deliver a keynote presentation, “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” For more information, visit http://www.nwse.org/keynote.html.

Friday, March 17, 2006
Exhibit hall public viewing and media access: 1:45–3 p.m. and 4:30–7 p.m.
Keynote Presentation by Thomas G. Zimmerman, IBM: 3:15–4:15 p.m.
Middle School Award Ceremony: 6:30–7:15 p.m.
High School Award Ceremony: 7:30–8:30 p.m.

Background:

The Intel Northwest Science Expo is the largest science fair in Oregon and southwest Washington, and showcases individual and team science and engineering projects in the areas of the natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics and computer science. Students compete for prizes, scholarships, and the opportunity to compete at the www.isef.org in May 2006. The fair is also affiliated with Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge and is organized by the Center for Science Education at Portland State.
