Background

What do 25-34 year-olds want from cities and what does it mean for the Portland region? The U.S. is in the midst of a major demographic shift and increasing attention has been given to the precipitous decline in the number of young adults entering the nation's workforce. Young and restless, they have settled within cities and suburbs in different ways than their parents. What does it mean for the Portland region and our ability to create a healthy and sustainable economy that we are a magnet for this demographic group?

The Forum on Sustainability and the Economy is a discussion series about issues related to livability and economic development in the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan region, sponsored by the New Economy Observatory at the Institute of Portland Metropolitan Studies in PSU's School of Urban Studies and Planning (www.upa.pdx.edu/IMS).
