What: Portland State University's Artists and Writers Series and the PSU Film Committee present filmmaker Tao Ruspoli, who will show and discuss his 1995 film "Flamenco: A Personal Journey," a feature length documentary about the art and lifestyle of the gypsies in Andalusia, Spain. The film provides an unprecedented look at the intimate gatherings in which authentic flamenco is performed.
Ruspoli’s other films include a number of short documentaries including "El Cable," also about flamenco; "This Film Needs No Title," a portrait of the renowned logician, mathematician and concert pianist Raymound Smullyan; and Ruspoli's best known documentary "Just Say Know," a personal discussion of his family’s drug addiction.
When: Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20, 2006, 7 p.m.
Where: Fifth Avenue Cinema (510 SW Hall St.).
Cost: Admission is free and open to the public. Canned food donations for the Oregon Food Bank accepted at the door.
