Portland State University was well represented at the annual conference of the Northwest Communication Association held in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho this April. Students presented papers on topics ranging from the coolness of cell phones to framing of the war in Iraq. Students whose papers were accepted included graduate and post-baccalaureate students Angela Abel, Cory Crowder, Vicki Crooks, Wynde Dyer, Imran Haider, Jacob Haugen, Mami Kikuchi, Kayoko Matsui, Michael Pacchione and Jon Schroeder.
Undergraduate students included Phil Carlson, Ashley McMahon, Krista McLaughlin, Alisa Poul, Sally Schindler, Erin Snider, Aaleeya Spence, Dani Stonehocker and Kathryn Winkler. Communication faculty members including Susan Poulsen, J. David Kennamer and Cynthia Coleman held a panel on undergraduate research and additionally, Coleman was named editor of the NWCA peer-reviewed journal.
