Undergraduates in PSU’s Advertising Management program, led by its director, Don Dickinson, have risen to national prominence this spring through high-profile victories in competitions against other universities.
A team of advertising students created a comprehensive advertising and marketing plan to attract younger customers to Cadillac as part of the manufacturer’s national advertising competition. The team presented to company officials at Cadillac headquarters in Detroit on May 7, beating out 15 other universities to take the top prize of $3,000. Cadillac may use some aspects of the student campaign in its marketing.
Another group of students from PSU represented the Pacific Northwest at the American Advertising Federation's annual National Student Advertising Competition in Dallas in June. There they presented a $7 million advertising plan to increase Florida tourism to this year’s client, the state of Florida’s tourism board.
