"The Broadway" Open House October 12

What:
The Broadway, a two-towered, 10-story mixed use development on Portland State University’s campus (SW Broadway and College), will have an official opening, complete with tours, for members of the campus and community. Speakers include Daniel O. Bernstine, president of Portland State University; Lynn C. Johnson, president, Portland State University Foundation and Mark C. Edlen, managing principal at Gerding/Edlen Development.

The Broadway opened for student move-in September 18, 2004. The $47.5 million, 217,000 square foot complex is an innovative public/private partnership between Portland State University, the PSU Foundation and Gerding/Edlen Development.

When:
Tuesday, October 12. Tours at 4 and 6 p.m., presentation at 5 p.m.

Where:
The Broadway, second floor (1977 SW Sixth Ave.).

Cost:
The event and tours are free and open to the public.

Background:
The Broadway’s top eight stories feature 383 residential units for PSU students, while the second level houses classrooms, conference rooms and a 24-hour computer lab. The ground floor will include 15,000 square feet of retail; confirmed tenants include Great Clips, Zelda’s Coffee House and Cold Stone Creamery. The Broadway is expected to receive a Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification rating for environmental sustainability, and upon its installation this month will have the largest eco-roof in the city.
