How Credits Transfer

There are a few ways to figure out how your credits will transfer to PSU. It's important to know our transfer rules. Here's a summary:

• all college-level credits are transferable from regionally accredited colleges;
• credits do not expire;
• courses below 100 level will not transfer;
• you're limited to 12 vocational/technical credits; and
• 90 quarter/60 semester credits = junior standing.

We have a few tools that can be helpful to students just starting out at a community college or those who are returning to finish a four year degree after a long break. 

• Transfer Guides and Four Year Degree Maps: Available on by major. These can help you plan which courses to take at the community college and which courses to take at PSU.
• Transferology: A web-based advising system intended to assist prospective transfer students review course transferability to Portland State University.
• Connect with Us: Attend a Transfer Information Session, make an appointment with your admissions counselor, or reach out to the Transfer and Returning Student Resource Center.

 Apply to PSU. To get a transfer evaluation, you must apply to PSU and submit transcripts from all schools attended. PSU will evaluate your application for admission and evaluate your credits.
