The Learning Management System is one of the foundations of learning at PSU. Over 14,000 of our students use our current LMS, Canvas, on a daily basis to complete coursework. Just like any other part of our infrastructure, it is imperative that we ensure our LMS is the best possible learning environment for our students.

The Office of Academic Innovation is committed to antiracist, anti-oppressive, and inclusive learning and teaching at PSU, and is actively working to advance equity, inclusion, and racial justice in collaboration with PSU faculty and students.

The Flexible Degree Program is about providing the PSU community with greater access to undergraduate and graduate offerings by creating online pathways for students who are otherwise unable to come to our campus. These PSU students are typically adult learners who combine their studies with family obligations and/or a job.

A great challenge confronting instructors teaching large 100- and 200-level foundational courses, lies in understanding what an increasingly diverse student body already knows and what they need to learn, then modifying instruction to meet those diverse needs. 

The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA), the Institutional Assessment Council (IAC), and the Office of Academic Innovation (OAI) created a collaborative process to ensure ongoing support for conducting quality assessment. 

OAI fully supports faculty who are interested in Open Educational Resources and OER-enabled Pedagogy, from supplementing or replacing course materials with OERs to designing assignments using open principles. Faculty are encouraged to work with us on how OERs might be integrated into their courses. 

PSU’s Graduate Student Professional Development Program offers workshops, events, and consultations focused on research-based best practices in teaching, learning, research, and other professional concerns that will help prepare graduate students for a career in higher education.
